The President signed the law, which introduced amendments to the selection procedure of the CCU judges. Despite the recommendations of the Venice Commission and despite calls from the public to veto the draft law.
This clearly contradicts our obligations to international partners and directly threatens European integration. Not to mention the independence of the Constitutional Court.
Earlier, on December 13, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 7662 on the reform of the Constitutional Court in the second reading, which endangers the European integration of Ukraine. The public immediately urged to veto the draft law.
Yesterday, on December 19, the Venice Commission published its updated opinion on this draft law with a clear message about the need for a seventh member of the Advisory Group of Experts, which will review the candidates for the CCU.
