Yesterday, on August 10, a draft resolution was registered, which cancels the decision of the Verkhovna Rada to restore the disciplinary function of the HCJ and ensure competition for the positions of disciplinary inspectors. The initiators were MPs of the "Batkivshchyna" party: Yulia Tymoshenko, Ivan Krulko and Serhii Yevtushok.
Last week the Parliament adopted two important draft laws, which, by resuming the consideration of complaints against judges and launching a competition for the Service of Disciplinary Inspectors, will become a key prerequisite for the dismissal of collaborating judges, Vovk's associates and other judges of low integrity. More details here.
DEJURE Foundation once again reminds the MPs that the consideration of disciplinary complaints is the most important function of the High Council of Justice, which it has not performed since 2021, when the process of reforming the body began. Since then, almost 9,000 complaints against judges have accumulated. And the SDI is the "first point of contact" with these complaints. It is the inspectors who should verify the complaint, search for information and prepare a draft decision for the members of the HCJ on the presence or absence of violations.
Therefore, we call on the MPs to vote against the resolution of the "Batkivshchyna" MPs and unblock the process of cleansing the courts. Draft law No. 9261, supported by the Verkhovna Rada last week, needs the signatures of the Speaker of the Parliament, the President and further implementation.
