Our Western partners deliver another unequivocal message regarding the law on "reform" of the CCU (former draft law No. 7662):

"The European Commission expects that the Ukrainian authorities will take into account the recommendations of the Venice Commission, published after the adoption of the law on December 19, including the increase in the number of members of the AGE to seven. The additional member should be appointed under the international quota to provide for the anti-deadlock mechanism," — European Commission spokeswoman Ana Pisonero commented to Suspilne media.

By the way, today, the law, which contradicts the recommendations of the Venice Commission and threatens European integration, is coming into force.

On December 20, 2022, the President signed a law amending the procedure for selecting judges of the CCU. Despite the recommendations of the Venice Commission and despite calls from the public to veto the draft law.
